Working Fields depends on Treatment Centers, Spoke & Hub providers, Recovery Centers, Sober Living homes and facilities, Probation and Courts, State Employment Service Agencies and any other organization that might work with people in recovery. Over the first couple years we have received most referrals from our partner agencies handing out contact information on Working Fields.
As we have grown, we have an increasing number of job opportunities. Recently we have found that we have more jobs available than we have referrals. However, it is our sense that there are still many people in recovery that could use supportive employment.
In those circumstances where Case Managers send referrals to us by e-mail, we have found that the likelihood of the person connecting with us to be greater than when Case Managers share information about Working Fields and depend on the individual to call Working Fields.
We believe we can help overcome the perceived fear that some have of picking up the phone and calling us for a job. Experience has demonstrated that when we directly talk to individuals we can help overcome any reservations they may have. We let them know we are in recovery and can relate to what they are going through. Their guard immediately goes down and we can begin the process of helping them move forward.
We want you to continue to direct people to Working Fields however we also would like you to ask the client if you can send their info (name, number, e-mail) to us and let Working Fields reach out and connect.
